8 Best Yoga Tops 2020

Yoga wear styles are far more varied than regular gymwear so you’re sure to find something that will help you channel your inner yogi – and suit your pocket too.

For hot yoga classes or more dynamic styles such as Ashtanga, some prefer to wear as little as possible (yoga bra and spray-on shorts anyone?), but whatever you settle on, make sure it’s made in a sweat-wicking and odour-resistant fabric.

For flow classes such as Vinyasa, you might prefer to wear something looser, that’s more comfortable and easy to move in, but do watch out for too much fabric flapping about if you’re going to be doing a lot of inversions.

Restorative and Yin yoga classes are meant to be relaxing and meditative, so you need to be warm and comfortable.

  1. (AD) Open-back yoga top, £10.99 – £12.99 from Amazon – buy here

This super-slinky tie-back vest is one of the most popular yoga tops on Amazon and the sexiest one on our list.

Made of soft, breathable rayon fabric with dropped armholes for ease of movement, the vest feels lovely to wear both open or knotted at the back (though you’ll probably want to keep it knotted it for class).

At £10.99 and with 12 different colours to choose from, you can afford to match one to every pair of leggings you own.

2. Mountain Warehouse

Keep it simple with the Endurance women’s tee.

  1. (AD) Endurance women’s T-shirt, £9.99 to £13.99 from Amazon – buy here

For those who prefer sleeves and a bit more coverage, a simple sweat-wicking T-shirt is always easy to wear and will keep you dry and comfortable throughout your class.

This one’s not specifically designed for yoga (hiking actually), but we see that as a plus – if you’re an active sort, it will quickly become a go-to piece that’s suitable for just about every sport and outdoor activity going.

An excellent basic at a very reasonable price.

3. Sweaty Betty

Made from a super-stretchy elastane fabric with compression for support and sculpting, and a light-support bra built in, it will hold you in all the right places for yoga, Pilates and barre classes.

The vest is available in white and black and comes in sizes up to 18 (XXL).

  • Relaxation fleece yoga sweatshirt, £12.99 from Decathlon – buy here

Decathlon isn’t a store that you’d usually associate with yoga gear, but they’ve recently partnered with yoga teachers to launch a range of inclusive yoga wear.

This super-soft yoga fleece is one of our favourites from the collection: with a high neck, long back and longer-length sleeves to cover your hands, it has a loose, comfortable fit that’s even suitable for pregnant women.

We think it’s just what you need to slip on at the end of class for your Shavasana.

This super-soft cotton yoga top is sure to raise a few eyebrows in the studio, but if your classmates give you all the space you need, it’ll be worth it right?

  • Infinalon cropped yoga tank, £47.95 from Nike – buy here

The top itself features a tough-but-delicate-looking strappy back design and a high neck to keep you covered during stretches and inversions.

If you’re feeling flush, you could also splash out on the gorgeous matching Infinalon leggings (£89.95) and feel like the most coordinated yogi in the studio.
